Welcome to our small charming town located in the highest mountain range of the Czech Republic dominated by the magnificence of Lysá hora and Kotel. Our tourist and sports centre is situated in the western corner of the fascinating Giant Mountains.
The history of Krakonoš’s settlement dates back to the year 1574. It includes four picturesque parts: Horní and Dolní Rokytnice, Františkov and Hleďsebe. During its development, it was considerably influenced by textile and glass industry. Beautiful countryside – active as well as passive holiday; this is the main attraction the town offers nowadays.

In Rokytnice nad Jizerou, the visitors can choose from several forms of accommodation (private accommodation, boarding houses, apartments, mountain chalets and cottages, and hotels). In their free time, they can use a wide range of services and facilities of our recreation centre. Well-maintained cross-country ski trails and slopes are waiting for ski lovers. In case of need, they can be covered with artificial snow. Complete care, i.e. service of both downhill and cross-country skis, is provided by ski-services. Further, there are ski rentals offering snowboards, downhill as well as cross-country skis and sticks, carvings, ski boots with buckles, ski boots as well as ski-overalls. Ski instructors in various ski schools are ready to provide interested skiers with necessary skiing knowledge. SKIBUS, a special bus modified for skiers, goes directly to the skiing centre. In the skiing centres of Rokytnice nad Jizerou, downhill skiers can use 28 ski lifts and a four-seated chairlift to the very top of the mountain Lysá hora. The chairlift Horní Domky is 2.198 m long, and is the second longest in the Czech Republic. We recommend the cross-country skiers to try high-quality white trails in the areas U kapličky and Pod Dvoračkami.
Visitors who do not fancy skiing can try snowtubing – very interesting downhill ride on inflatable tubes in an artificial snow track.

In other months, Rokytnice nad Jizerou offers the tourists a wide range of high-quality activities. A network of marked tourist trails both for walking and cycling tours is available. Huťský waterfall, Studenov, Rezek, Dvoračky, the spring of the Labe river as well as magical panoramas from the ridges of our highest mountains are not very far from here. Besides tourism, the promise of rich experiences is held by horse riding, skittles and bowling, bobsleigh track, kart racing, tennis courts and rock climbing. A fully-equipped sports hall and sauna are available, and for lazing, there is local cable TV.
Picturesque pubs, pleasant restaurants, wine bars, a disco, a cinema as well as small bars will definitely contribute to your comfort in Krakonoš’s paradise.
During the summer, tourist transport lines of the Giant Mountains modify their timetables and thus allow trips to Harrachov, Špindlerův Mlýn, Pec pod Sněžkou and other attractive destinations. To enhance your travelling experience, we recommend trying a rarity – a cog railway (the so-called "zubačka") from Kořenov to Harrachov.
The info centre / travel agency of Rokytnice provides all necessary information, season tickets for turnstiles, maps, trips to surrounding localities (even with a guide), and other services.

Cross-country skiing tracks and trails 5
SKIREGION also offers you maintained cross-country ski trails and loops. It is included in the system “Krkonoš – lyžařský běžecký ráj [cross-country skiing paradise]”, which connects all mountain centers with over 500 km of maintained trails.
The loops are not difficult and may be used by less skilled cross-country skiers. Trails suitable for those more proficient include the Paseky loops through Studenov to Dvoračky, or they may take the chair lift up onto Lysá Mountain. Not far from it is the marked “Krkonoš Ski Route”, which transects the entire Krkonoš Mountains. It leads past the memorial to skiers Haneč and Vrbata and onto Horní Mísečky.

The location of Rokytnice nad Jizerou offers very good accessibility of surrounding localities, such as Harrachov, Kořenov, Vysoké nad Jizerou, Paseky nad Jizerou, Poniklá, Benecko etc.
You need to count with many strenuous gradients, rather worse quality of the surface, and steep downhills. On the other hand, you will be rewarded by a view of our beautiful mountains. When planning your tours in the Giant Mountains, we recommend you careful consideration of the length and physical demands of your selected trail. You should also watch the weather forecast and check the condition of your bike, especially brakes. You will appreciate their perfect condition in steep downhills.
From June to September, there are the GIANT-MOUNTAINS CYCLE BUSES available for you. They will bring you closer to the tops of our mountains. Each bus can transport 15 bikes at the minimum. In the Giant Mountains, there is an extensive network of cycling trails, from which it is possible to watch splendid sceneries of our highest mountains. These trails are intended mainly for sports-minded individual, since in some stages they are very difficult and demanding.

Choose one of the trails, for example to the Dvoračky chalet, to the Labe spring, to the hut Vrbatova bouda, to the hut Vosecká bouda, to the Memorial of Hanč and Vrbata, or to Harrachov or even to Poland. The GIANT-MOUNTAINS CYCLE BUSES, which go from June to September, will definitely be of big help.
It depends only on your mood, desire, and abilities; there is definitely enough to choose from. You will be rewarded by beautiful untouched countryside, magnificent flora, clean air, views of distant surrounding, romantic and calm moments with your family or friends.

Pro rodiny s těmi nejmenšími jsme připravili několik tipů, kam vyrazit za památkami, přírodními zajímavostmi nebo kam zavítat třeba jen na kratičkou procházku. Besides winter activities, Rokytnice nad Jizerou offers a wide range of summer activities, both in Rokytnice and in close surrounding.
Every year, our centre organizes cycling races. One of the best known races is a component of the Czech cup of dual slalom, and takes place on the slope in the Ski area Modrá Hvězda, where a perfect track with a big jump is prepared.
Activities taking place all year long include bowling and skittles. You can also use tennis and volleyball courts or play on a grass football pitch. For lovers of fast wheels, there is kart racing, and scooter rental available. The sports hall offers two gyms and a fitness centre. In winter, you can try snowtubing or sleigh trips. The farm Zlatá podkova (Golden horseshoe) offers horse riding and trips in a carriage all year long The offer of adrenaline sports includes rafting, paragliding, or a visit of the rope centre. Both indoor and outdoor swimming pools can also be found in our close surrounding.
